Role Description & Key Responsibilities.
Use innovative, person-centered approaches to engage elderly residents through the creative arts
Lead individual and small group sessions designed to: Stimulate the senses, Encourage self-expression and self-discovery, Support emotional well-being
Tailor sessions to meet the unique needs of older adults, including those with Alzheimer’s, Dementia, and other cognitive or physical challenges
Use a variety of artistic methods and materials in therapy
Conduct assessments, track progress, and maintain accurate client documentation
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement personalized treatment plans
Communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members to foster a supportive environment
Qualifications.
Graduate Diploma, Bachelor’s or Master’s in Art Therapy or related field.
Recognized by the Canadian Art Therapy Association.
College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario [RP, or RP(Q)] (Preferred).
Skilled in mental health assessments, art therapy techniques, and documentation.
Experience with older adults, especially those with Alzheimer’s, Dementia, or physical decline.
Effective written and interpersonal skills; proficiency in computer & database management.
